The Village of Castleton has no public access to the Hudson River. Having access to outdoor recreation and waterways is a critical aspect of community and proven to support economic revival and growth. For these reasons COHMSA is a dedicated supporter of river access for the village by safe access to Riverfront Park. Many other dedicated individuals, community groups, and Village Officials have fought for access for more than 25 years as Riverfront Park has remained inaccessible due to restrictions by NYS Department of Transportation and Amtrak.
COHMSA joined Scenic Hudson and others to form “Route to the River”, a Coalition of organizations and individuals committed to securing safe and equitable at-grade public access to Riverfront Park and the Hudson River in Castleton-on-Hudson.
